Usually, laminate boards and tiles are designed to be clicked together and locked. Then the finished floor can support itself with no connection to the subfloor. Glue is not needed. This floating floor can be installed over wood, concrete, and some existing floors. Also, it can be placed over radiant heat. Separate underlayment, which enhances and protects the flooring, may be needed if it is not already attached to the planks or tiles.
